     After a successful alien attack on earth, only 6 humans escaped. Five are onboard non-firing space vessels and one (you) is piloting the only remaining fighting craft. Phoenicas is an arcade musical 2d shooter in the styles of defender, exerion, phoenix, ikaruga and space invaders. Blast the invaders to pieces while protecting the last remaining humans, using upgradeable weapons and powerups and fight your way through the choreographed levels and game modes to achieve the highest scores. Score by combos, fastkills, selective shooting and accuracy, as well as effectively protecting and rescuing humans from the hands of the aliens.
Phoenicas is an old school score-driven 2d shooter. It is a hardcore shooter at heart but has been made easier and more accessible for novices to enjoy also. (mouse control, easy mode etc). Use of a proper arcade joystick like hotrod or x-arcade is highly recommended.
The defender-like mechanic of protecting humans and rescuing them right from the hands of the abductors dramaticises the gameplay experience.
Novel twists are a unique 2-player cooperative mode (second player manages credits won by player 1 to assist in the action) and an 'expert' control mode that allows the ship to tilt left and right in order to aim more percisely (or not!)
